BOMBING NEAR MARKET KILLS 3 PEOPLE IN IRAQ: 28 October 2012:

Iraqi authorities say twin bomb-ings near a market southeast of Baghdad have killed three people and wounded eight others. Police officials say the simultaneous attacks Sunday morning took place in Madain as shoppers started to arrive. Madain is 20 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Baghdad. Medics in a nearby hospital confirmed the casualties. All officials spoke on condi-tion of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. The blasts followed a string of attacks that killed 40 people in the Iraqi capital. Saturday was the deadliest day in nearly six weeks. (Daily Star)

SADR CITY EXPLOSIONS’ TOLL REACHES TO 13 KILLINGS: 28 October 2012:

Security sources said here today that the toll of Sadr city explosions reached to 13 killings and 56 wounded. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the two car explosions were in the middle of the city. The first toll announced was 5 killings and 21 injuries. Baghdad witnessed other explosions yesterday that led to tens of casualties, as the sources said. (Aswat al Iraq)

17 IRANIAN PILGRIMS KILLED, INJURED IN NORTHERN BAGHDAD: 27 October 2012:

Five Iranian pilgrims and 12 others injured when an Adhesive Explosive Device went off targeting a bus transporting Iranian pil-grims heading to Samara province of northern Baghdad. “Security source stated to AIN “The AED attacked to the pilgrims’ bus went off, resulting in killing five of them and injuring 12 others.” (AIN)

5 CIVILIANS KILLED, 11 WOUNDED SOUTH EAST BAGHDAD: 27 October 2012:

Police sources said here today that five civilians were killed and 11 wounded in a bomb explosion. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the bomb was put in popular market. (Aswat al Iraq)

 

18 CIVILIANS KILLED, INJURED IN NORTH EASTERN BAGHDAD: 27 October 2012:

18 civilians were killed and injured when an Improvised Explosive Device went off in al-Bawiya market of al-Maamil district of north eastern Baghdad. Security source stated to AIN “The IED went off killing five civilians and injuring 13 oth-ers.” (AIN)

TOUZ EXPLOSIONS’ CULPRITS CAPTURED: 28 October 2012:

Security sources said here today that a fed-eral police force captured 5 culprits of Touz area explosions of yesterday. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that yester-day’s explosion, 80 km south Kirkuk, resulted in injuring nine civilians. The explosion took place near a Shiite mosque, which damaged three neighboring houses, as the source added. (Aswat al Iraq)

OIL WORKER KIDNAPPED SOUTH KIRKUK: 28 October 2012:

Police sources said here today that an armed group kidnapped a temporary official in North Gas Company south of the city. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the kidnapped was a Kurdish. No other details were given, except for the continued investigations are taking place. (Aswat al Iraq)

IED DISMANTLED IN SALAH IL-DIN: 28 October 2012:

Police Department of Left Wing managed to defuse an Improvised Explosive Device in Sharkhat district of northern Salah il-Din province. A security source stated to AIN on Sunday “Left Wing police managed to dismantle an IED which was placed on a roadside in Sharkhat dis-trict.” (AIN)

15 CITIZENS KILLED, INJURED IN MOSUL: 27 October 2012:

15 Civilians killed and injured in three at-tacks conducted by unidentified gunmen in Mosul. A security source stated to All Iraq News Agency “Unidentified gunmen attacked a family of Shabak community in Kafaat quarter where he killed the whole family that comprises three members. “Other unidentified gunmen attacked a family in Somer quarter of western Mosul where they killed a mother and her daughter and injured four others of the same family,” the source added. “Unidentified gunmen deto-nated two Improvised Explosive Devices targeting a family in al-Karama quarter of western Mosul, resulting in kill-ing six members including children,” the source concluded. CAR BOMB GOES OFF IN WESTERN MOSUL: 27 October 2012:

A car bomb went off targeting a mosque in Urtekhrab village of Bashiqa district of western Mosul. A security source stated to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) “A car bomb exploded near the mosque of Urtekhrab village of Bashiqa district of western Mosul which resulted in mate-rial damages to the nearby shops and cars.” (AIN)

BOMBED CAR EXPLODED EAST OF MOSUL: 27 October 2012:

Ninewa police announced here today that a bomb car exploded without human casualties. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the explosion took place near a mosque, in Basheeqa area, east of Mosul. Only material losses were reported by the source. (Aswat al Iraq)

9 CIVILIANS INJURED SOUTH KIRKUK: 27 October 2012:

Security sources said here that 9 civilians were injured in a bombed car explosion mid of Touz area. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the explosion took place early this morning in Touz, 80 km south Kirkuk, which led to injuring 9 civilians and damaging three houses. (Aswat al Iraq)

3 CIVILIANS WOUNDED BY MORTAR SHELLS IN DIALA: 27 October 2012:

Municipality official in Abi Saida area, Diala province, announced here today that 3 civilians were wounded by mortar shells explosions. Awad al-Rubai’i told Aswat al-Iraq that a number of mortar shells fell on residences in Abu Karma villages, 24 km north east of Baqouba city. Many material damages were inflicted on the residences, as he added. (Aswat al Iraq)

9 KILLED, 6 WOUNDED OF THREE SHABAK FAMILIES IN MOSUL: 27 October 2012:

Security sources announced today that 9 civilians were killed and 6 wounded in armed attacks for Shabak minority families in different areas of Mosul city. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that unknown gunmen attacked the first family where the parents and a son were murdered. In a separate incident, gunmen exploded a bomb inside a Shabak family residence that led to wounding 6, including children. The third incident, 6 were killed in south east Mosul, including a mother and her daughter. (Aswat al Iraq)

 

3 KILLED, 12 INJURED IN BOMB BLAST IN KHALIS, DIALA: 26 October 2012:

Security sources said here today evening that 3 persons were killed and 12 injured in preliminary toll for car explosion in Khalis area, Diala province. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the bombed car was cornered near a square connecting Northern prov-inces and Baghdad. Shops and cafes in the site were gravely damaged by the explosion. Today is the first of Eid fes-tivities in Iraq, where the people go out for shopping. Khalis lies 15 km north of Baqouba. (Aswat al Iraq)

 

SAHWA LEADER ESCAPED ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT IN FALLUJAH: 27 October 2012:

Police sources said here today that a pro-government Sahwa (Awakening) leader escaped death by a sticky bomb put in his car mid of Fallujah city’s market. The source told Aswat al-Iraq that the Sahwa leader was not injured, but material damages in his car took place. (Aswat al Iraq)

 

RED CRESCENT EMPLOYEE WOUNDED IN WASIT PROVINCE: 28 October 2012:

A Red Crescent em-ployee in Wasit province wounded on Sunday, Oct. 28, when an improvised explosive device went off in northern Suwaira district, north of Kut. The Red Crescent General Assembly’s member, Hayder al-Jadiry, told NINA that an improvised explosive device was emplaced near the house of Red Crescent employee, Thiyab Mowafaq al-Jihaishi, in northern Suwaira district, went off when he was driving his car passing it; he is seriously wounded and been rushed to Suwaira General Hospital for treatment. 5 POLICEMEN KILLED EAST OF BAQUBA: 28 October 2012:

Five policemen, including an officer, killed on Sunday evening, Oct. 27, in an armed attack on a police checkpoint east of Baquba. Security source told NINA that Qaeda gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Imam Wayis area, on the international road between Baquba and Khanaqeen, killing five policemen, including a police officer, at the rank of captain. He added that a military force was rushed to the area imposing a security cordon around it and started searching for the attackers, who fled to an unknown place. (NINA)

 

 

All of this is just in the last few days.

 

Just a note:  Al Qaeda had a big push here in Sept.  One of their initiatives was to palce bombs near elementary schools on the opening day of school.  They not only shoot 14 year old girls, they bomb 1st graders for going to school.
