Queen Michelle: How Many Vacations Does One Woman Need?

Queen Michelle: How Many Vacations Does One Woman Need?

By Warner Todd Huston

In the last three years, Michelle Obama has taken sixteen vacations on the people’s dime. Sixteen. I haven’t taken sixteen vacations in the 40 years I’ve been working for a living! And may we hasten to add that Michelle Obama doesn’t even HAVE a job from which to vacate!

This time Queen Michelle and her brood are swooshing the slopes of Aspen on another well deserved vacation away from Washington, courtesy U.S. taxpayers. One has to wonder why the Old Media is turning a blind eye to these million-dollar extravagances? Especially in this time when millions ofAmericans are out of work and cannot find suitable jobs the Old Media says nothing while Michelle lavishes herself with expensive vacations. Did I mention we are paying for all this?

One would think that these many, many, many indulgences would be ripe for ridicule by the Old Media. But since more medidiotes are joining the Obama administration everyday, it’s no wonder that they don’t want to bite the hand that is feeding them — not just stories, but literally feeding them at this point.

It takes the British Press to note these extravagant “holidays” and add up the costs.

Here are the costs for just a few of Michelle’s imperial junkets:

  • Michelle Obama and 40 of her friends paid for personal expenses, such as hotels and meals themselves.
  • But the U.S. taxpayer would have paid for the 68-strong security detail, personal staff and use of presidential jet Air Force Two.
  • Payment for the secret service team ran at around $281 each – nearly $98,000 for the duration of the summer break.
  • Use of Air Force Two comes in at $149,900 for the round trip, not including time on the ground.
  • Mrs Obama’s personal staff, of which there were an unknown number, should also be taken into account

According to the Hawaii Reporter the costs were:

  • $63,000 on an early flight bringing Mrs Obama and the children to Hawaii ahead of the President
  • $1,000,000 on Mr Obama’s return trip from Washington on Air Force One
  • $16,000 to rent nearby homes for Secret Service and Navy Seals
  • $134,000 for 24 White House staff to stay at the Moana Hotel
  • $251,000 in police overtime
  • $10,000 for an ambulance to be on hand at all times

  • Michelle Obama and her daughters stayed at the Sebastian hotel on Vail Mountain, where rooms cost more than $2,400 for multi-bedroom suites.
  • The family appear to have flown there on Air Force Two.
  • They were escorted to the resort by about a dozen vehicles, including 15 state and local law enforcement officers.

  • The Blue Heron Farm estate, where the Obama family stayed, rents for about $50,000 a week.
  • Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama flew to the estate just hours before the president to make the most of the holiday – again, incurring extra flight costs.
  • According to U.S. News and World Report, the Coast Guard was required to keep ships floating near the property. The presidential helicopter and jet remain at the ready and security agents will be on 24-hour duty.

According to the Hawaii Reporter the costs were:

  • $63,000 on an early flight bringing Mrs Obama and the children to Hawaii ahead of the President but add security and personnel for a total of about $100,000
  • $3,271,622 on Mr Obama’s return trip from Washington on Air Force One
  • $151,200 to rent nearby homes for Secret Service and Navy Seals
  • $72,216 for 24 White House staff to stay at the Moana Hotel

The Obama Rule

He says taxation is about fairness, not growth or revenue.

President Obama speaking on the economy at Florida Atlantic University

President Obama speaking on the economy at Florida Atlantic University

Forget Warren Buffett, or whatever other political prop the White House wants to use for its tax agenda. This week the Administration officially endorsed what in essence is the Obama Rule: Taxes must be high simply to spread the wealth, never mind the impact on the economy or government revenue. It’s all about “fairness,” baby.

This was long apparent to those fated to closely watch the 2008 campaign, but some voters might have missed the point amid the gauzy rhetoric about hope and change. Now we know without any doubt. White House aides made it official Tuesday in their on-the-record briefing on the new federal minimum tax that travels under the political alias known as the “Buffett rule.”

The policy goal is to impose an effective minimum tax of 30% on the income of anyone who makes more than $1 million a year. When President Obama first proposed this new minimum tax he declared that the rule “could raise enough money” so that we “stabilize our debt and deficits for the next decade.”

Then he added: “This is not politics; this is math.” Well, remedial math maybe.

The Obama Treasury’s own numbers confirm that the tax would raise at most $5 billion a year—or less than 0.5% of the $1.2 trillion fiscal 2012 budget deficit and over the next decade a mere 0.1% of the $45.43 trillion the federal government will spend. When asked about those revenue projections, White House aide Jason Furman backpedaled from Mr. Obama’s rationale by explaining that the tax was never intended “to bring the deficit down and the debt under control.”

Like the original wizard, Barack Obama doesn’t want anyone to look behind the curtain.

‘I am confident,” announced the president of the United States, “that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.” And so it was on Monday that Barack Obama, anticipating a loss before the Supreme Court, added the third branch of government to the list of villains he will run against in his re-election campaign.

Many are saying the president should know Marbury v. Madison. He does. It doesn’t matter. If something gets in his way, Barack Obama hammers it—whether courts or Congress. The left likes that. It remains to find out if the rest of the country wants the judicial and legislative branches subordinated to a national leader.

Many schools of thought have emerged on the subject of why Barack Obama does some of the things he does, such as the job-killing Keystone XL pipeline decision or vilifying the Supreme Court justices seated before him at his State of the Union speech or inviting the GOP leadership to his speech on the deficit so he could insult them, and then hit them both again this week. Calculation? Intimidation? One school holds he acts out of personal belief (the school I subscribe to). Or that he polls it before he says it (also plausible).

It appears to be unprecedented, however, for a U.S. president to have attacked the Supreme Court before it handed down its decision. Some think Mr. Obama and his progressive infantry are trying to intimidate the Justices, specifically Justice Anthony Kennedy. But most legal commentary has said the president’s attack is likely to anger the justices, perhaps including some of the court’s liberals. Mr. Obama’s notion of judicial review diminishes all the members of any court, not just its conservatives. It doesn’t help the always difficult struggle for an independent judiciary in other countries if an American president is issuing Venezuela-like statements on U.S. courts.

Another possible explanation occurs. It’s in one of the grandest moments in “The Wizard of Oz,” when the Wizard, fumbling at the controls inside his throne room, shouts to Dorothy and the others: “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” Barack Obama, a wizard of another kind, has been trying with fulminations and denunciations to keep anyone from attempting what a law professor might call discovery of what the president actually has done in the past three years. We already know, for instance, that the stimulus’s $825 billion went up the chimney. What else?

The Dangers of an Interventionist Fed

America has now had nearly a century of decision-making experience under the Federal Reserve Act, first passed in 1913. Thanks to careful empirical research by Milton Friedman, Anna Schwartz and Allan Meltzer, we have plenty of evidence that rules-based monetary policies work and unpredictable discretionary policies don’t. Now is the time to act on that evidence.

The Fed’s mistake of slowing money growth at the onset of the Great Depression is well-known. And from the mid-1960s through the ’70s, the Fed intervened with discretionary go-stop changes in money growth that led to frequent recessions, high unemployment, low economic growth, and high inflation.

Chart of the Week: Obamacare’s 17 New Taxes

This week’s chart illustrates the new taxes and offers a year-by-year rundown of their annual costs. These taxes will pay for generous subsidies, an expansion of Medicare and new government spending.
A notable jump in Obamacare taxes comes in 2013, a result of Medicare Hospital Insurance tax and an increase in taxes on investment income for high-income earners.
“If you and your spouse earn more than $250,000 a year (or you alone earn $200,000 or more), your Medicare payroll tax will increase from 2.9 to 3.8 percent. This new tax will raise $210 billion for Obamacare,” the authors of “Why Obamacare is Wrong for America” wrote.

Victim says:Michael Kobulnicky is innocent of Kidnapping and Rape

Why is Michael Kobulnicky still in jail???

The victim Actively looked for someone to hear her tell her side of the story. The victim and an attorney she contacted, came to us.

The victim has reached out to us as she is VERY eager to get the story out. We did so at Teo Leo’s.

Victim states: Channel 10 and channel 8 news have done similar interviews with the victim last week.

She says:  “I’ve never seen Michael Kobulnicky before and they have the wrong man in jail”.

The interview was 51 minutes. I am giving the entire video to the police but leaving a few bits out because of graphic content, and respect for the victim.

With two other videos like this out there, why has Michael been in Jail so long???

Karen Grube gives a detailed story below:

Also, look at the amount of publicity about this story. This is only a partial list (The media frenzy is because it’s “TEA PARTY”)

Innocence by Association
by Karen Grube, March 24, 2012
When Michael Kobulnicky, spokesperson for the San Diego Tea Party, was arrested for rape and kidnapping on March 15th, it sent shockwaves through the local Tea Part Organizations.  No member of the leadership of any local tea party had ever been arrested for such a brutal crime.  And since there are over 22 local tea party groups, there was a great deal of confusion about which of the groups Michael represented.  One group went so far as to deny that Michael was ever a member of any Tea Party group, let alone a leader.  From the beginning, the San Diego Tea Party told the truth.  Michael had taken a hiatus from his leadership responsibilities as spokesperson for their group for a month before the alleged crime in order to plan his upcoming wedding.  We sent out two formal press releases in 24 hours condemning the crime itself and making it clear that this incident had nothing to do with the San Diego Tea Party.
But it did no good.  Within hours the story filled the local media.  It went national within a day, and international within a few hours after that.  Headlines on MSNBC said“Former Tea Party spokesman Michael Kobulnicky arrested in sex assault case.”  The local Fox News story headline read “Tea party leader accused of sexual assault.”  The story even made it to Glenn Beck’s news outlet, “The Blaze.”  It was difficult to find a single story where this arrest wasn’t associated with the Tea Party.

But today, in an exclusive interview with the San Diego Tea Party, the victim of this crime has been talking.  She has completely vindicated Michael of the crimes for which he was arrested.  In fact, she has been trying to get her message exonerating Michael to the San Diego District Attorney’s office for days now.  After leaving several messages with the lead detective on the case and getting no return phone call and no attention to her request to clear up the situation, she finally contacted Channel 10 News and gave an interview stating clearly that Michael was not the person involved in the crime.  When Channel 10 contacted the District Attorney with this information, they were told not to broadcast the story.  In frustration, she contacted CBS 8 with the same story, which they have yet to broadcast.

In the meantime, two of the victim’s acquaintances contacted Michael’s attorney, Heather Melone, telling her that the victim had told them that she made this accusation initially in order to get money from Michael.  In a press conference early Thursday morning, Heather Melone asked that the District Attorney’s office to insist that the information provided by these two new witnesses be investigated by a different detective who would actually follow up on the information they provided.  There is yet no word as to whether or not the case has been reassigned.

Out of frustration with the lack of help she’s gotten both from the media and local authorities, today Michael’s accuser scheduled an interview with leaders of the local Tea Party, accompanied by an officer of the court (an attorney) to set the record straight.  Once again, she complete exonerates Michael of the crimes for which he was arrested.  This interview is being released online in hopes that this information will finally be picked up by the media and by the District Attorney’s Office.  Michael and his attorney will be attending a scheduled bail reduction hearing on Monday morning.  Perhaps by then the District Attorney will drop the charges against him.
But what then?  Will Michael be able to regain the reputation and standing in the community and his church that he worked so hard to earn over the years?  Will his relationship with his fiancé remain strong?  I hope so.  Will the D.A.’s office admit that they were negligent in how they investigated this case?  Not likely.  Will the media finally admit that their attempt at “guilt by association” with the Tea Party was completely inappropriate and politically motivated?  Maybe this time, the media will announce Michael’s innocence and the Tea Party’s “Innocence by Association” as quickly and as loudly as they trumpeted his arrest and his association with the San Diego Tea Party.

Some disturbing news for members of the San Diego Tea Party

A member and Volunteer for San Diego Tea Party, Micheal Kobulnicky, He been arrested and charged with Kidnapping, and Rape of a 55 year old woman at Fiesta island.

The media, as we know, has a “Special Way” of implicating the ENTIRE Tea Party as a whole for the failure of one in a million members. We are hoping the evidence that comes forward at the arraignment on Monday we let us comment further about this, but for now we have issued a statements for the press below.

We had nothing to indicate Michael, who teaches children in school and works as a SD city landscaper would have done such a hideous thing. This is a national story that is now on the AP and syndicated in 53 different news outlets as of Saturday night.(and growing)

We have opened up a discussion thread at the meetup site for comment and input at: http://www.meetup.com/San-Diego-Tea-Party/messages/boards/thread/21516022/

Michael Kobulnicky Arrest
San Diego, CA, March 17, 2012:
One of the things each volunteer of the Tea Party stands for is that
each person is responsible for his or her own actions. This is
individual responsibility.
These allegations fall into that category.
This horrendous act of violence was perpetrated by an individual. It
did not take place at a Tea party function nor would any Tea Party
member or volunteer condone this act. This was a deplorable act
that we all condemn, having a strong belief in the rule of law.
Everyone is so focused on the fact that Mr. Kobulnicky was a Tea
Party member and former spokesperson for a local group, they are
forgetting the victim.
These allegations should never have become political in nature. In
the meantime, this victim and the senseless brutality she has
suffered are all but lost. All thoughts should be on her and the
others that will be hurt should these allegations prove to be true,
such as Mr. Kobulnicky’s five children who are innocent. Let me return to individual responsibility for a moment. Should the
allegations against Mr. Kobulnicky be true, we would hope that he
would save this victim from additional pain by admitting the truth
and taking responsibility for his actions.
The San Diego Tea Party is a local grassroots movement of over 1,200
like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Our
core principles support the United States Constitution as the Founders
intended such as: Constitutional authority, limited government, fiscal
responsibility, national sovereignty, and vibrant free markets.

Powers Struggle The cultural contradictions of feminism.

Kirsten Powers isn’t ideologically sympathetic to Rush Limbaugh and doesn’t approve of the uncouth things he said last week about liberal icon-of-the-moment Sandra Fluke. But over the weekend Powers performed a public service by publishing a column at the Daily Beast noting that the left’s outrage over Limbaugh’s comments is highly selective. It’s worth quoting at length:

What about the army of swine on the left?

During the 2008 election Ed Schultz said on his radio show that Sarah Palin set off a “bimbo alert.” He called Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.” (He later apologized.) He once even took to his blog to call yours truly a “bimbo” for the offense of quoting him accurately in a New York Post column.

Keith Olbermann has said that conservative commentator S.E. Cupp should have been aborted by her parents, apparently because he finds her having opinions offensive. He called Michelle Malkin a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick.” He found it newsworthy to discuss Carrie Prejean’s breasts on his MSNBC show. His solution for dealing with Hillary Clinton, who he thought should drop out of the presidential race, was to find “somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out.” . . .

Chris Matthews’s sickening misogyny was made famous in 2008, when he obsessively tore down Hillary Clinton for standing between Barack Obama and the presidency. . . . Matthews has wondered aloud whether Sarah Palin is even “capable of thinking” and has called [Michele] Bachmann a “balloon head” and said she was “lucky we still don’t have literacy tests out there.”

Will Obama Super PAC Return Misogynist Bill Maher’s Million-Dollar Donation?

5:39 PM, Mar 5, 2012 • By JOHN MCCORMACK

In response to the media firestorm surrounding Rush Limbaugh’s insulting comments about Democratic activist Sandra Fluke (comments for which Limbaugh apologized), Kirsten Powers writes about the liberal men who have used misogynistic rhetoric without facing the same outrage. Powers notes that “the grand pooh-bah of media misogyny is without a doubt Bill Maher—who also happens to be a favorite of liberals—who has given $1 million to President Obama’s super PAC.” She continues:

Maher has called Palin a “dumb twat” and dropped the C-word in describing the former Alaska governor. He called Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann “boobs” and “two bimbos.” He said of the former vice-presidential candidate, “She is not a mean girl. She is a crazy girl with mean ideas.” He recently made a joke about Rick Santorum’s wife using a vibrator. Imagine now the same joke during the ….Read More here

Occupy Wall Street

The current Occupy Wall Street movement is the best illustration to date of what President Barack Obama’s America looks like.It is an America where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent rule.  It is an America where those who have sacrificed nothing pillage and destroy the lives of those who have sacrificed greatly.

It is an America where history is rewritten to honor dictators, murderers and thieves.  It is an America where violence, racism, hatred, class warfare and of murder are all promoted as acceptable means of overturning the American civil society.

It is an America where humans have been degraded to the level of animals: of defecating in public, having sex in public, devoid of basic hygiene.  It is an America where the basic tenets of a civil society, including faith, family, a free press and individual rights, have been always rejected.

It is an America where our founding documents have been now shredded and, with them, every person’s guaranteed liberties.

It is an America where, ultimately, great suffering will come to the American people, but the rulers like Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, liberal college professors, union bosses and all other loyal liberal/Communist Party members will live in opulent splendor.

It is the America that Obama and the Democrat Party have now created with all the willing assistance of the American media, Hollywood, unions, universities, the Communist Party of America, the Black Panthers and numerous anti-American foreign entities.

Barack Obama has brought more destruction upon this country in three years than any other event in the history of our nation, but it is just the beginning of what he and his comrades are capable.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is just another step in their plan for the annihilation of America.  Socialism has a record of failure that’s so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.

High Gas Prices: Obama’s Half-Truths vs. Reality

By Nicolas Loris
February 23, 2012

FYI: Heritage WebMemos are now called Issue Briefs.

The national average for gas prices is almost $3.60 per gallon, increasing 40 cents from a year ago and jumping 20 cents from just one month ago.[1] Prices are already surpassing $4 per gallon in some states and could threaten the country’s economic recovery. Higher gas prices drive up production costs for goods reliant on transportation, and more money spent at the pump means less money spent at restaurants and movie theaters. Buying fewer goods and services tightens the economic vice and holds back job creation.

Almost 70 percent of the price of gasoline comes from the price of crude oil, with excise taxes, refining costs, and retail/distribution making up the other 30 percent.[2] Exporting refined petroleum products comprises a small percentage of total domestic gas production and marginally impacts prices. Despite demand for oil falling in the United States as a result of a weaker economy and a warm winter curbing the use of heating oil, the industrial rise of China and India continue to put upward pressure on the price of oil. The threat of Iran restricting oil exports to Europe is also driving up the global price, impacting gas prices in the U.S.

President Obama addressed these issues Thursday, February 23, in a speech on gas prices[3] in which he continued to take many facts out of context. While the President said that there is no quick fix to high gas prices and the nation cannot drill its way out of the problem, he creates a false dichotomy that suggests that micromanaging the solution from Washington by subsidizing uneconomical technologies and sources of energy would work.

This approach would do little to provide America with new, reliable, and economical sources of energy and in fact would cause more harm than good to the consumer and taxpayer. America knows what works to effectively combat high gas prices: allowing the market to work by opening access to the country’s own oil and gas reserves, reducing onerous regulations, and allowing producers and consumers to respond to energy prices without Washington’s interference. Here are five half-truths that one continually hears about gas prices and five actions that Congress and the Administration can take to effectively combat high gas prices.

Half-truth #1: Oil production is the highest it has been in eight years.

Increased oil and gas production in the U.S. is a great development, but this is a result of increased production on private lands in North Dakota, Texas, and Alaska. On federal lands and offshore, the story is much grimmer. Production on federal lands and offshore could have yielded more output, increasing supply and therefore putting downward pressure on oil prices. Poor administrative decisions—such as refusing to open areas to exploration and production, cancelling or delaying lease sales, and the offshore drilling moratorium and subsequent “permitorium”—significantly reduced oil production, destroying jobs and reducing economic activity in the process.

If there is an economic interest to produce this oil, Washington should allow companies to do so. In North Dakota, oil production is booming and unemployment is low. There should be more stories like this.

Half-truth #2: Increasing oil production takes too long and would not impact the market for at least a decade.

This has been the mantra of the anti-drilling crowd for years, and the longer politicians listen to the message, the longer the nation’s oil resources will remain undeveloped. If access to areas that are currently off limits is increased, it will take time to explore and extract that oil. But that does not change the fact that the nation needs it today and also in the future. Furthermore, some of this oil can reach the market in much less than a decade if the permitting process is streamlined and the Keystone XL pipeline—which could bring up to 830,000 barrels of oil per day from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries—is built.

Half-truth #3: Oil is not enough. America has only 2 percent of the world’s oil reserves.

President Obama frequently uses this number to push federal investments in alternative sources of energy that cannot stand the test of the market. The reality is that he uses this number deceptively. According to the Institute for Energy Research: [A]lthough the U.S. is said to have only 20 billion barrels of oil in reserves, the amount of oil that is technically recoverable in the U.S. is more than 1.4 trillion barrels, with the largest deposits located offshore, in portions of Alaska, and in shale in the Rocky Mountain West. When combined with resources from Canada and Mexico, total recoverable oil in North America exceeds 1.7 trillion barrels, or more than the world has used since the first oil well was drilled over 150 years ago in Titusville, Pennsylvania. To put this in context, Saudi Arabia has about 260 billion barrels of oil in proved reserves.

One reason to view “reserves” estimates with caution is the fact that they are constantly in flux. In 1980, the U.S. had oil reserves of roughly 30 billion barrels. Yet from 1980 through 2010, it produced over 77 billion barrels of oil. In other words, over the last 30 years, the U.S. produced over 150 percent of the proved reserves that it had in 1980. If the massive quantities of U.S. oil are made available to explore and produce, the current estimated reserves of 20 billion barrels would certainly increase, providing much more production over decades to come. In other words, reserves are not a stagnant number.[4]

Half-truth #4: Oil is not enough. The country needs an “all-of-the-above” approach to reduce its dependence on oil.

President Obama mentioned this approach in his 2012 State of the Union address, saying, “This country needs an all-out, all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of American energy.”[5] But a market-based strategy is
