April 26 – How To Talk To A Couch Potato, AND get them off the couch. An interactive lesson led by Dr. Ray Usell
Too many citizens apply consumer attitudes to their citizenship. They judge candidates and issues like they buy breakfast cereal. If the box looks attractive, they buy it. If the slogan is attractive like “Breakfast of Champions”, they buy it. They watch ads mindlessly. If they see ads repeatedly, they believe them. If they don’t need cereal at the moment, they don’t look at the boxes (between elections) or even go to the store (don’t vote).
TO WAKE UP COUCH POTATOES, you need to talk with them. To talk with them you need to have something motivating to say and believe it yourself. Come to this meeting to critically examine and dialogue about non-partisan talking points that EVERY CITIZEN will care about: Massive public debt, social security, Medicare, taxation, government waste, government corruption, prejudiced press, & corrupt politicians. Bring issues you believe can have universal non-partisan appeal to this event.
Talking with others needn’t be difficult or stressful. All you need to do is apply 3 common-sense ideas from one of the most successful movements in human history. You’ll learn what they are and find that practicing them is better than watching Reality TV! This will be an entertaining “Think & Do” meeting facilitated by Ray Usell.
